The Australian franchise, Chicken Treat, put a keyboard inside a henhouse and let a freaky fowl named Betty take control. For more than a week, she used the hunt and peck method to broadcast on behalf of the brand, as part of an ad campaign that generated ample publicity.
The company will continue this exercise until Betty successfully tweets a five-letter word in English, which will apparently earn her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Dark irony undercuts the funny side here, of course. Betty is unwittingly working to promote a firm that exists only to execute and barbecue her fellow chickens for human consumption. We are currently recruiting for a chicken, similar to Betty to do some of our social media at Vista Foods HQ. Excellent package, company coop & straw bale bonuses, DOE.
