“Dinner is served! The chicken nuggets are organic, free-range, rescue chickens who communicated to me in chicken language that they wanted to die to nourish my children.”
Gluten free, free range, organic, paleo, added vitamins, brain stimulating are just some of the claims we see on foods today. Parents are bombarded with advice about health, diet, processed foods, fast food, convenience food, in addition to the many stories about ‘what really goes into your chicken nuggets’.
A mother posted this image and that comment on her Facebook page about the meal she had prepared for her kids. She continues…
“I coated the nuggets in gluten-free almond meal and probiotics before baking them on a tray sprayed with coconut oil and colostrum”
“Those aren’t fries, they are rutabaga spears from my garden lightly fried in peanut oil from my peanut grove.”
“The box was a craft I did with my children this afternoon while I was being mindful with them in our television-free living room.”
“Those aren’t grease stains on the box, they are tears of joy from my toddler. He’s so thankful for every meal.”
Other parents started joining in – one asked: “What’s in the styrofoam cup though?”
The mothers’ witty response…
“That’s a reclaimed cup I found in the landfill this morning and gently washed with vinegar and Castile soap. It contains a broccoli and hemp seed medley (dessert)”
Another responded: “It doesn’t include a placenta based multivitamin? Disappointed.”
