This month the takeaway basket index stands at 100.8, which is a 0.8% price increase in the basket of 6 products being surveyed. We have also looked into what’s happening on a product by product basis this month, and the findings are interesting.
In 2016 to May the largest price increase has been on chips, showing an average 1.85% increase in the period over the outlets surveyed. The smallest increase was on Fresh Cod with a 0.9% drop in price over the period.
However, the percentage of sampled outlets changing prices is also interesting:
Chips 30% of all outlets changed prices
Snack Box 25% of all outlets changed prices
Quarter Pounder 20% of all outlets changed prices
Chicken Fillet Burger 15% of all outlets changed prices
Chicken Tenders 10% of all outlets changed prices
Taco Chips 10% of all outlets changed prices
Fresh Cod 10% of all outlets changed prices
