The second last round of Six Nations rugby matches kicks off next weekend. After the Welsh in Dublin, we now welcome the Italians to Ireland and the Aviva… pretty much chalk and cheese when it comes to food.
The Welsh were the last visitors to Dublin and while we didn’t get all the points that we really deserved, it was a really exciting game. We certainly didn’t get over excited about the Welsh food.
The Italians, on the other hand are a whole different kettle of fish when it comes to food. Italian cuisine is known and loved throughout the world. While French cuisine is often the most lauded, we think that Italian food beats it where it matters – popularity worldwide.
It’s difficult to find anyone who doesn’t have an Italian dish in their top 10 all-time favourites… from pizza, pasta, lasagne, risotto, Parma ham, olive oil, wine, the long list of great food and ingredients is mouth-watering.
With many Italian families living in Ireland and many of those in the food industry, it’s great that we can hold them in such high regard when it comes to food.
So for your food, Italy, take a bow. Italian rugby on the other hand is… well… let’s just leave it at that!!
